I wash up on the forbidden shores of Ikaria, home to the winged men with amber skin and white crescent moons on their foreheads.

One man has deep scars between his shoulders where his feathers were torn out. Hatred burns in his mesmerizing golden eyes. “A human couldn’t possibly end our curse,” he scoffs, but he desperately needs me, and the intertwining of our fates only makes his rage burn hotter.

As he flies me up to the spires of his mist-shrouded home, I catch a glimpse of the distant temple and hear words that only I can hear.

“At last…”

“You wrongly ate my fiance and now you owe me a husband!”

I scream at the sea monster guardian of our island. The next morning a very different kind of man arrives to participate in our bride hunt. A winged god with amber skin, glowing golden eyes, and a white crescent moon on his forehead.

If he catches me, we must live together as husband and wife for one year. But his island is said to be cursed. There, dark shadows have an unnatural power, and ghosts of the past carry bitter hatred for humans. When I step foot onto their mist-shrouded shores, at last they have a target for their vengeance…
